Clicking noise draining battery?

Hi all,

I've got a 1992 Maxima Ti (Australian model), and recently it started to make a strange clicking noise. This noise was happening both with the engine running, and when the engine was turned off. It was drawing a fair bit of current, cause the lights would dim when the click happened. Finally, it stopped when the battery died. It's a bit of a pain cause I've got to unplug the battery. I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem, or might have any idea what the problem is?

Thanks

Luis

I think the clicking is a relay within your starter system, For some reason it keeps transfering back and forth. It might be a problem with the inductor in the relay, I would know where to start looking for it, but you say it make the noise with the car off, so if you pop the hood search for it by sound.

Check your batterys voltage and the voltage with your alternator running. I have heard a wierd clicking noise myself when my alternator was dying and I would try and start the car with the battery low.
