VG30 engine problem

hey guys, i have a 3rd gen 1990 maxima with a VG30 engine in her. a couple months ago, i suddenly noticed that something happened to the engine, and it started sounding weak when idle. and it doesnt put out as much power as it used to. i used to tap on gas and the car would go fast, and now its a lot weaker.

im a newb, i recently got the nissan as my first car and right now, im trying to learn about it as much as possible. my friends and a couple of mechanics dont know what the problem is, but one of the guys suggested that it might be the fuel injection system going bad. and we all think that its running on only 4 cylinders instead of 6.

would anyone know what the problem is or what i should take a look at/replace?

thanks

the stock injectors are pretty weak and go out often. that'd be a good thing to look into.

Hi,

can tell us what the trim is,

is it a gxe or a se,

if it is the fuel injector,

what you can do is buy fuel injector cleaning solution and put it in the fuel tank and see if that help the problem,

because if you bring the car to the dealer they will charge a lot of money on this kind of car,

There are lots reasons for that. Dont rush to anything expensive before tests. (= good injectors are 100$ each). Dont buy used...

I would start by general maintenace: plugs, cap, wires, filters, connectrors cleanup, THEN sensor tests.

If all else fails to produce, then check injector resistance, try cleanup (seafoam?) and as last resort swap.

But before all that, go through all pages and figure whattodo. Go through ALL pages, pays!

maybe you just need a tune up, spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, and possibly an air filter... just a thought...
