are all trunk latches interchangeable?

i spent about 3 hours today.. trying to figure out why my trunk doesnt "pop" open

-I'm going to try and find all new parts and wanted to know if they were all interchangable? manual trunk popers and electronic.. all the same?

- i can't believe how much of a PIA a small thing like that could be...

Sure they are (manual -> manual; power -> power). Just keep original key cylinder.

In fact, if you have a "manual" one you can buy "power" kit (on e-bay) and install it (say, if you got an aftermarket alarm system and want to open ur trunk by pressing a button).

Good luck!

what do you mean by pop? just that it wont open or it doesntopen a certain way? they should be interchangeable, but you may also have the security lock down

The security lock is a little lever thing you pull up so the truck will pop open (again). Its there to prevent the pop feture from opening your trunk when on the freway or while your driving.

SO if you can open your trunk with the key and can hear the Selenoid being activated just unlock/release the security lock and your trunk will open once again.

what were tring to say is that your trunk latch may not be broken. hope thats clear...

I think ... he is talking about a manual release lever ...

If so, just pull the cable with pliers to pop the trunk open.
Re-attach cable to a new (re-placement) lever.

aaahhhhhh.....

the entire latch assembly, the trunk lid and the part in the trunk are both messed up... i need to get new ones. and was wondering if the manual ones (pull cord) and the auto ones (push a button) use the same parts back there....

just call me chris.

sorry chris but the above statement doesnt say ANYTHING about it being broken. unfortunaltely, in an attempt to try to help you fix your problem, it seems other .org members questioned your intelligence. on behalf of the accademy, we are sorry.

to answer your question,
the lock is part#8463085e00 and it costs 33.65
the striker is part# 8462085e00 and it costs 13.82
database shows no differance between solenoid and release cable operated units.
