One Bright HeadLight not working

I have a driver's side head light that won't go to bright. The low beams work fine. I have tried changing the bulbs and have checked the headlamp fuses. It checks out OK. I have also verified that the terminal end to where the bulb plugs in fails with a tester when on high beams. Additionally, the bright light indicator on my dash will not come on anymore. This gradually happened over a period of time where sometimes it would work and sometimes not. Where could potential problems be? Could it be on the switch itself on the steering column, or where else could there be a faulty connection?

harness... look at the headlight "plug" itself, and if its melting it self then u have to replace that part .. there like 2.99
its a 9004 headlight harness
if u have to replace it.. it would take about 5 min.. cut the wires match them up .. twist togeather.. make sure to keep the bulb and all plugs clean..(thats including ur hand grease)

My guess would be the switch itself. Easy to replace, but mine cost $70 CDN, if I remember correctly. I had a similar problem to yours, except after trying the high beams, one would not work, but the blue dash light would stay on. Weird how the switch can cause all these things.

From: Skokie (look it up)
check the bulb itself first!
then check the harness (actually same time)
and check the relay after that.

I've read on the forum that it can be a bad dash/turn switch, causing one headlight not to light up. But check bulb first, check wiring, etc...

I had the same problem on my maxima 91GXE and Im an electronic technician so i've look at the electronic shematics and find out that it was the daytime light unit that had a relay inside of it not working . that unit can be located at two diferent place acording to the repair manual mine was under the steering . i had to remove the theft warming control box than is was just behind attached to it is a lille black box. or it can be located near the right corner of the door but not in the door itself. you can fix it yourself by oipening the box with a metal saw or a hot blade and change both relay or remplace the unit.Ask your dealer or look in repair manuals if u need more info i'll try my best.Worked perfectly for me

Cheers
