Ignition switch problem

I have 4 keys for my ignition switch and only one now seems to work anywhere near reliably. I think the problem is that the 'removal latch' doesn't trip when the key is inserted. Some jiggling with slight rotational pressure sometimes does the trick, but the entire lock assembly seems loose and moves up/down with the key (not rotationally).
Is this fixable, or does the assembly need replacement? With Chilton offline AND the Search function here not working, is there a working link to instructions for removal? Any problems with the linkage to the shifter?

heres my nearly the same problem

1990 Maxima auto-trans.... I suspect the key is just worn completely out but... key is very hard to get it to turn from lock position.. Like not turning tumblers... on the light ring I found a code 00627v.. Would that be the key code? Also, how do you get the cylinder out to just replace the lock mechanism? Thanks

that is not the key code.
take out a lock cylinder from the trunk or glovebox and have a key made off of that
