Hey, my car started running like crap, check engine light on.

the code i got from diag mode 3 is 5 red, 1 green, meaning code 51.


Can anyone tell me what that code means?

what year and trim is your car? code 51 on a vg engine is an open injector circuit

 

Its a 1994 GXE auto, what does that mean? is it an injectors failed or has one come undone or is it a sensor somewhere?

do you have a california model? looks like that error code is on the cali models and not the fed spec models.

looks like what the fsm is saying is there is short in the wiring or even in the injector. might check the plugs on the injectors and see if they are corroded. if so, you'll want to clean those up.

once you do that, you can reset your ecu by going to mode 4 of the diagnostics selection and then turn the key back off. this will reset the ecu.

drive around and see if your problem still persists and check to see if the code turns back on. good luck man!

 

Im in ontario, so i dont think it would be a cali car, it came from BC where it was purchased new. I was thinking it was the fuel filter but i doubt it now.
