VG Front Strut brace doesn't fit ???

I got a FSTB off ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2463092180
and I cant get it to fit my max

Is something wrong w/ my frame? or is it the bar that's too long?
can someone post a measurement of the distance between the 2 inner bolts on their VG
Thanx

That's the same one I got, but with blue end plates. The bar's length is adjustable. Just loosen those two nuts on each end and twist to extend/shorten the bar.

also since you have a 94 you will have to move your AC line out of the way of the bracket. That is why I always recomend the OTTO bar (actually for a 5th gen) for 92-94 SE and GXEs because it has the straight up brackets and you will not have to move your AC line. Its OK though a lot of people have moved the AC line without problems...just be careful.

I know that it's adjustable, I got it to be as short as possible, and it's still too long.
Can someone measure the distance between the inner (of the 3) bolts and post their measurements.

ps: the AC line will only be in the way in the VE's, I have a VG so that's not a problem, I think. (since I couldn't install it, i cant really say)

Wrong...trust me I know what I am talking about on this. The AC line is in the way of the 92-94 SE and GXE. I have both and have had a cheap bar on both (the same bar). I had to move the hose on both the gxe (92) and my SE (93). I since got the right bar for the SE (and moved my AC line back) and took the cheap bar off of the GXE (and moved the line back) because I am selling it (the car not the bar).

I will try to go measure the distance in a little bit when I get a chance. Unless your car had major damage though it shouldnt be that far off (I had plenty of thread left on mine). Chances are they sent you the wrong bar.

Oh and its not like its a major movement of the line and some have left it alone and let the bar rub the rubber sorround of the hose but I decided to move it.

i had that same problem but with a lil bit of thinking....i just took off ONE of the bolts on the end and twisted the bar as tight as possible....it fits right on now and no ones can even notice...unless i tell them its missing a bolt

awsm66 is right. All 92-94 cars all have the A/C hose in the way. I'm kind of surprised that you didn't immediately see this would be a problem if you just even lay the bracket over the left tower... It's pretty obvious that the bracket arm and the hose want to be in exactly the same area.

boosted3rdgen might be onto something here. I don't see why you couldn't just remove one or even both nuts and install the bar without them... I guess there'd be nothing to stop the bar from rotating, but it should all be pretty snug anyway so it shouldn't really go anyplace. Or you could go to a hardware store and try to find some thinner nuts.

Just measured on my bar that I pulled off (couldnt get a good measure on the struts since the hose was in the way of the ruller)

anyway the brace I pulled off of my GXE hasnt been messed with (nothing loosened...still stiff where the brackets are...I just un bolted the strut nuts and pulled it off) and the measurment from the CENTER of the inner bolt (or hole in the strut brace) to the CENTER of the other inner bolt (or hole) is 38".

Hope that helps.

One more question:
Does it matter if the bar is tilted sideways, or does the flat part of it has to face up?

I wouldn't think it should matter as long as it's not interfering with anything or rubbing something.

The whole thing is just a fancy pipe run across the 2 towers so that they don't bow inwards.

Glad you got it installed.

shouldnt matter which way its facing unless you want it for looks and not for what its made to do....just tighten it up as much as you possibly can...congrats with the install
