Will this oil filter fit -15208-9E000?

Hey. Does anyone know if the 15208-9E000 filter will fit our cars (mine is a VG anyway). I believe it's the OEM filter for 4th gens.

Been there, done that, thanks a bunch. However, there is nothing there specific to whether the filter will fit a VG, that's why I've posted it in the 3rd gen forum. All I can find there is that it's for the VQ engines. Anyone with a more helpful answer?

No, no, no. That would be too easy. The thing is, last time I replaced my filter I used the 15208-55Y00 Nissan filter which is specified for the VG (and other motors I'm sure). However, in the past when replacing the filter, I seem to recall seeing a spring inside the far end of the filter which I believe has something to do with the bypass valve. A lot of high quality filters use a spring. The last 15208-55Y00 I put on had the opaque plastic cap at the far end, which is scarily similar to a FRAM filter. I think the guy that designed the 3rd gen Max cupholders now works for FRAM designing their filters, if you know what I mean.... So anyway, I'd heard that the 4th gen filter was well designed, and just wondered if I could use it. Guess, I'll get an aftermarket filter from now on.... I will be cutting open the 15208-55Y00 I currently have on the car when I change it, to see if it's quality built or made by FRAM.

back to my "read the oil forum" statement.......
there are plenty of filters that work great on our cars, namely the Toyota filter.. Or stick with the OEM one since you have a VG. the VE is the one that really needs the special treatment with drainback valves and such.

FYI, cars have run for decades and millions of miles using Fram filters.. they're not THAT bad, as people may seem to insinuate they are. there's only a handfull of filter manufacturers out there, and Fram make a good chunk of them (including OEMs).

And back to my original post - the oil forums don't specifically state if the 15208-9E000 will fit a VG. That's what my question was - not 'what is a good filter to replace the OE filter'.

As for FRAM filters, decades ago they apparently were made well, but they're now made cheaper with parts of lesser quality - the company has changed owners several times I believe. Browse a bit of the www.bobistheoilguy.com for some pics and first hand knowledge that show just what kind of quality we are talking about, or have a look here http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/ or here http://www.overboost.com/story.asp?id=1143 and draw your own conclusions. The writers have their opinion - draw your own, but the pictures don't lie. Sure FRAM's have been used for decades and millions of miles, but for the same price you can have a much better made filter. After carefully maintaining and modifying your Max, would you want to use a filter that works, but is made so poorly?

Here you are making statements like these, so I recommend a place to look for you to find a filter that DOES work, and you're b!tching at me.. Someone says a 4th gen filter won't work on here and there's a wealth of information in that forum that you're refusing to even consider.. now tell me which is more asinine: me handing you solutions that WORK, or you shooting me down for not answering the single question you asked... hmmmmm.

Back to the Fram discussion... First.. don't use the cheap ones. that's an obvious answer. I've used them for years, and my car has 205k on it now. engine is still running strong, and I abuse it every day. If you don't change the oil on a regular basis, you're going to have problems with any filter...

ahh well.. it's like pi$$ing into the wind.. no use.

Yes, I see where the confusion falls here. My musing that I might use an aftermarket filter led to you suggesting again that I read the oil forums. I thought you were restating that I should read the oil forums in regards to the only question I actually asked - will a 4th gen filter fit the VG. So sorry.

Aside from the FRAM X2 filter and the one that has PTFE (which the manufacturer says to NOT put in your engine) in it, show me one that isn't cheap. By the way, filter cut aways still show the forementioned filters to be subpar in comparison to similar priced filters.
