autometer fuel gauge

autometer fuel gauge
Hello everyone. I just bought an autometer fuel pressure gauge and I'm to the part where I need to tap into a power line for the red wire to power the pressure part, and a power wire for the white wire to power the light on the gauge. How do I find a wire to tap into and how do I know what wire does what. I don't have a FSM. I am considering using the lighter wire for main power, and my foglight switch/wire for the backlight, will this work? Also, it says to put a fuse in this thing, but it doesn't tell me what kind of fuse to use, I mean how high of resistance or whatever. Please help if you know anything about this. GRACIAS

Alright, I PM'd you boosted 3rd gen but havn't heard back from you yet. I'll keep checking. Does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram with this information? I have tried to find it but have a hard time finding info on a 92 SE.

Okay, now I see the one I think you were talking about. I guess I just wire the power to the 12v white/red or white and wire the light for the gauge to red/yellow. I think this makes sense, I'll go try to put it back together. Thanks, and someone let me know if you have any better instructions, I need all the help I can get.

First, buy a test light. you can pick 'em up at radio shack or most parts stores for a few bucks.. it'll help a lot when you're trying to trace down wires like this.
the ones listed for the stereo stuff are for the wires immediately behind the stereo (in the stereo wiring harness)
the ones listed for the alarm stuff are in different places-- listed on the paper.
start there.. ground isn't hard.. the rest of the wires should be pretty easy once you get a test light. they're either behind the stereo or in the steering column wiring harness, depending on where you want to tap into them.

Thanks, I ended up figuring it out with the other chart on your site. I put the red one on the ignition for main power and the light one on the headlight switch wire, works fine. Now I just have to make sure it doesn't leak gas and I have to put together my dash.
