I just raced one yesterday on my way down to skyline blvd.
Actually, I guess it wasn't a race. The guy was on the
right, and I was on the left. The light turned green
and he pulled ahead of me cuz i didnt know he was
gonna take off like that. A quick glance ahead
revealed a huge assed van in his lane. Anyway, I
don't like to get cut off so I blasted off after him
and then sort of pulled even with him.
My gf sez the guy looks pissed, then i hear his engine
rev up loud. He launches forward, so do I.
Anyway, we're blasting up from 25 to 50 to 60 to 70.
He's really really slowly pulling ahead, but not fast enough
to pass me. So well, to make a long story short.
The SHO decides to tailgate me all the way down to Skyline
blvd, and then almost kills himself while trying to turn
the corner from the Great Highway onto skyline at 60 mph.
(Anybody know the bump on the inside corner? He didn't)

Just curious cuz my buddy sez that an SHO should be able
to burn my *** into the ground. His car was pretty old
looking, and had its share of dirt and dents.

I think they are fast..

The 94 shape ones... 220 hp V6.

There was a guy here not a while ago, who said his girlfriend bought an SHO or something, and he drove it and it felt a lot faster then his modded max, and I think his max had a bunch of dope mods, like ECU, intake.. and it was a 93 5spd SE... I think he sold his max to get a SHO Taurus.

They are nice, but I wouldn't trust a "Ford".

I think you did pretty well against, it, if it was the 93 shape one.

Umm...that would be me. My girlfriend did buy a 94 SHO auto and it rips! It ran 6.85 bone stock on my G-Tech and the best I could get out of my modded 93 SE 5-speed was 7.8. Don't be so sure you'll beat a SHO - they are sleepers just like Maximas. My Maxima is still for sale but I think I already have a buyer so it will be gone very shortly. I've been driving my 87 Maxima SE 5-speed around which is still pretty fun. I'm going to keep a low profile for about a year to pay off some debts but I think I'll probably try to find a low mileage 94 SHO 5-speed once I have some money again. I can fix anything so I'm not too worried about the reliability factor.

Maybe you should take a driving course or something? 7.8 in a modded VE? WTF? Either: A. You can't drive a 5 spd, B. Your car has problems, or C. All of the above. Stock VE 5 spds usually do in the mid-high 6's 0-60.. LOL

Yeah...Im going to have to disagree with that. I hardly think a SHO is a sleeper. If you know anything about cars, you know whats up with an SHO.

I didnt know they put the 302 in them either. Theres a few kids with SHO's around here. Theyre all beat to **** because these kids just floor the crap out of them.

I know they put em in Tbirds, this kid at my work just thinks his '87 TBird with the 5.0 is faster than the wind.

But I cant find any information on them being put in SHO's.

V8, but not a 302

They did put a V8 in them when they went to the bigger, rounder shape somewhere between 94-96. It was a 4.3L V8, 32 valve 235hp. Bigger and more powerful, but that new chassis was 500lbs heavier, thus making them actually slower than the older ones. They did have a "V8" badge on the fender, behind the front wheel.
Dusted 2 of them!

Everyone talks smack but it's all just hot air until you either go to the track or use a G-Tech to get the factual numbers. My Maxima SE 5-speed is pretty quick but my butt dyno and the G-Tech tell me the SHO is quicker. I did 3 runs in each car just to be sure I was getting consistent times. I think my Maxima has low compression or bad VTC's because is should do better than 7.8. Then again, it has 115K miles on it and the SHO only has 68K which could be a factor. I'm selling it anyway so I really don't care how quick it is at this point. Both of these cars are a blast to drive.

It depends which one you race. I was dead even with an old one before the 3.2 Yamaha. He was even a 5 speed. It was an '89 and I knew the guy and talked to him before and after.

All V-6 SHO's had 222HP 3.0L 24 Valve V-6's and 5 speeds up until 1993, when an Automatic was availible, and all Autos had 3.2L..

The 3rd gen(96-98) are all automatics, and are dogs, they are easily the slowest SHO.

The 1st gen's are the lightest, and if they get the shifter conversion done, they are also the fastest

SHO's never came with a 5.0

I should also mention that a 93 or so completely walked away from me on a run from 0 - 60 or so. I can't remember what, if any, mods I had at the time. But mods or no mods, they're fast. The 5 speed VE will run neck and neck with one according to Car and Driver from their late 1991 article and tests. The one I raced was pretty well beat up, which is why I suspect I hung with him.
