Powdercoating intake manifold

I am going to powdercoat my intake manifold, I can't figure out what color I want to do it in. I have a Pearl White 92 SE (VE motor). I have the following colors right now: Chrome, Red, Gloss Black, Satin Black, Wrinkle Red, Wrinkle Blue, Clear.

What do you all think?

If you are a fanatic about keeping your engine bay clean, then get chrome. Otherwise get black.

I vote black or chrome. I thought Satin Black was like a Gloss Black?

MrGone, Satin black is a flat black, kinda like the hoods on old mopar muscle cars but with a little schene to it. It is supposed to be FLAT, but it has a bit of that gloss in it so I call it satin.

I do the powdercoating myself, I only do clean parts though as the prep work is just not worth it ya know? Something like that intake manifold I would charge about 40-45 bux for assuming it has already been cleaned and all I have to do is give it a once over with prep solution and a towl.

I ended up doing it in black, I started out in red and realized about 3/4 of the way through it I was out of that shade of red. So I said screw it and vacuumed the powder off and went with high gloss black. Came out pretty nice, casting is rough as hell though, woulda been better if I polished it first, oh well. This thing was more of a pain that I thought it would be, so if someone wants it done, its gonna be about 45 bux.

I can do a POWDER chrome, this is not REAL chrome and will obviosly not have the same mirror finish too it, but it will look kinda like chrome, no doubt. Chrome powder is a 2 stage process, base coat and clear coat. The price for chrome would be 60 bux because it uses twice as much powder, twice as much work, and twice as much to bake.

Have any spare 1.6:1's laying around or some Magnum Covers .

Very nice!

Also keep in mind that the chrome finish (or anything with a clear coat) will yellow over time with heat. I wouldn't recommend it for engine or brake parts, but interior/exterior stuff is a different story.

I did mine in a color called black minitex. It makes the aluminum look like the composite intakes and it looks nice.

Another org member does powder coating, and will clean up parts too. I had a pretty old/rusty turbo manifold that he cleaned up, resurfaced the flanges, new bolts/studs, honed and powder coated. He can do it all, great prices too. Here is a before an after

I'll probably tend toward a ceramic coating if anything.

Yes, I am in the Detroit area, Garden City to be exact. I clean the inside with a wire brush, brake clean, and scotch bright pad, then just give it quick once over with some brake clean on the outside and then sand blast, finaly toss it in a dish washer, dry it off, use a pre-paint prep solution, then go to town on it.

As far as pictures go, I have no idea how to post pics here, but you can see some items at www.db-performance-eng.com check under the powdercoating area.

Yes I have a spare kegger, just got rid of a set of 1.6s, but I can get whatever you need at a fair price usualy.

to post a picture do this:
[img*]url of the picture here[/img*] (but take out the *) you can also click on the button, paste the url to the image, then click on it again.

so for example if I wanted to post the picture of the M1 on your website I would type [img*]http://www.db-performance-eng.com/photogallery/photo26003/gls%20blk%20intake.JPG[/img*] but take out the *'s from the tags.
