looking for help to solve the problem of 92 AT SOHC

Hi everyone,

I am a new comer here. I really need your opinions for my 92 AT SOHC.

2 months ago, I got the tranny rebuilt. But I got a strange problem since half year ago. At first, I though the problem belongs the tranny, but after the tranny rebuilt, the problem is still there.

The problem is very hard to repeat, most of time, this car works very well, but sometimes the car will suddenly has a kind of ignition problem. It's easier to show up when I drive uphill, but not everytime. I don't get the problem everyday, but several times a week now.

Most of the case, when I was driving uphill, after a pretty long distance acceleration, if I step easy on the gas for few seconds, then I step on gas again, the car suddenly loss power, the engin rpm can be only reach 1500-2000 no matter how heavy I step the gas pad with the knocking sound from exhaust. If I pull over the car, swith to N or P gear, the engin was shaking and rpm is very unstable, sometimes can occur shut off. The only thing I can do is to restart the car, then everyting seems to be fine. This looks like an ignition problem but I did tune up last winter, and most of time, the engin works very well.

Now, the things getting worse, the problem shows up even no uphill and more often than before. I tried several garages, nobody found the problem. Hope can hear some good idea to fix it.

Thanks.

As my first language is not English, if you guys have difficulty to read, let me know.

I remember a lot of posts about like hesitation linked to, I believe they're called, ignition coils? Something about them being cracked...maybe that's your problem.

He has a VG motor, so it doesn't have the separate coils on the plugs like a VE does. I would check the fuel system- filter first, and then possibly the pump. The fact that it was doing it only up hill to start with makes me think it's fuel related.
