grilles
I'd keep the white one
I like the color-keyed grill that they come with personally. I'm going to see if there is a way to cut away the louvers in mine and put gutter-guard screen behind it. Depends if there is anything left to mount it back on the car with and how hard it will be to attach the mesh. I would basically have just the outer frame of the factory grill remaining. It'll look nice if I can build what I'm imagining!

there shouldnt be any real cutting to go on the grill other than removing the middle parts and it will still connect with the car as original. all u need is gutter guard and hot glue. james92se did his in like 5 minutes and it was very easy. on my car i had to cut the middle part out and there was a frame and a molding peice that is whats visible as my grill all i had to do was unscrew that and sandwich the gutter guard in the middle but thats probably no help to you

Custom Grille
I just did the cutting on my grille this past weekend.
Its on a 93 GXE, so its a chrome grill.
There are 5 chromed cross bars.
I cut out the top and bottom 2, so that all thats left is the chrome frame and the middle bar with the Nissan logo floating in the middle.
In a couple of weeks, I will be adding the something like gutter guard, except its an aluminum grill that looks like gutter guard.
You can find it at home depot over in the screen door area (some people use it to protect the lower part of screen only screen doors).
Once I get it in, I will paint it (the interior and screen only, not the chrome center bar or frame) with a black, hammered steel finish spray paint (home depot also).
Will post pics when done.
There is a lot of fine sanding to do to the plastic where you cut the other parts away. THe cutting took about 45 minutes with a Dremel and a variety of bits)
Good luck.

Thanks! Haven't even taken it off yet, so it get's me an idea. I saw a Folia Tec ad in SuperStreet advertising expanded metal screen in silver or black. I think it said it comes in 7" wide by 50" long sheets or rolls. Not too many places seem to carry Floia Tec items though.
