I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 1989SE AUTO W/160K HASN'T GIVEN ME ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS....YET. BUT THE BODY IS STARTING TO GO. I WOULD LIKE TO GET ANOTHER 3RD GEN CAR..THE 4TH DOES NOT APPEAL TO ME AND THE 5TH IS TOO MUCH MONEY RIGHT NOW. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE IDEAL 3RD GEN CAR. THE BEST CAR FOR MODDING UP. 5SP OR AUTO??
VE OR VG?? GXE OR SE?? I WOULD TEND TOWARD A TWIN CAM 5SP, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE GENERAL CONSENSUS. ALSO WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE POWER AND COMFORT BUTTON FOR THE TRANSMISSION ON AUTO CARS?? DOES THE POWER SETTING MAKE THE CAR A LITTLE QUICKER??

I HAVE SOME MODS I WILL BE ADDING ON TO MY NEXT 3RD GEN;
1. 17IN RIMS AND P235/45ZR TIRES
2. PERFORMANCE SHOCKS/SPRINGS
3. POLY BUSHINGS AND ENGINE MOUNTS
4. STILLEN EXHAUST
5. JIM WOLF OR STILLEN ECU
6. PORTED AND POLISHED HEADS
7. FSTB
8. A CAI? OR STILLEN HI-FLOW INTAKE W/K&N CONE
9. ABSOLUTELY NO BODY KIT....I WANT A TOTAL SLEEPER
10. AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU GUYS MIGHT SUGGEST

If you have the money I would say a 94 SE 5 Speed.

putting it on "C" will make it chift at lower RPM's so it will be a bit smoother and more economical, putting it on "P" will have it shift at higher RPM's making it more peppy, leave it in the middle and the computer will decide which mode it wants to be in givin the driving conditions at that moment.

i have a 93 gxe (auto vg sohc 160 hp) and my dad picked it for me. if i had my choice i would have gotten a se (manuel ve dohc 190 hp). if you want to mod out for racing then go for the se but if you want to go for convience then go for the vg. as for show mods, both models look great with them.

I'd get your Caps Lock button fixed first, it seems to be stuck.

94 SE or GXE

Let's face it, we want to go with the newest possible car. If you're going to get the SE, then check the VTCs for sure before purchase. The GXE is still a good consideration as the engine is pretty bullet-proof and you can add horsepower, but the automatic transmission can go out. If you get a GXE, install a transmission cooler.

my 1991 hasnt given me any trouble and i have 156,500 miles on it, but from what i have read and stuff sounds like the 1994 SE would be a good choice, cause the VTC is supposedly fixed and it is the "newest of the 3rd gen", not to mention it lookes good!

I love my car and I got it on accident before I knew anything about maximas. All I knew is that I liked the 3rd gen body style and it was in my budget. I was kinda disappointed that it was a stick when I first looked at it but NOT ANYMORE!!!! I have had to do the vtc's but they are cool now.
