Hi, I was riding down the road, my CD player cut off. Odd? I push the power button, to no avail. So I think.. ah ground wire must be comming loose on the terminal. No big deal right? Well then I get to the lot where I turn into the grocery store, the car feels like it doesnt have much power.. I get to the parking spot.. and the car starts spurting and slightly jerking. Then, it cut's off on me. I try to crank it back up, nothing. It cuts on, then cuts right back off a half a second later. If I hold the key in the ignition and floor the gas, it'll stay on but make a weird noise, and cut off as soon as I let the key go back to rest. I cannot move it.. Period. I thought I might have ran out of gas, but my hand still says I have a quarter tank of gas.. & the fuel light never came on. Any help would be greatly appreciated....

...Because right now I'm without a car.

Could be 20 different things but check the voltage at the battery. If you get it started, check that that the alternator is putting out more than 12v

Run the ecu codes. The procedure should be in the FAQs somewhere.

just guessing, but maybe the alternator is dead. that can cause the radio to quit, and the engine to barely run. otherwise check fuses, and electrical connections under the hood and to the battery. Shouldn't nissan have put a volt meter gauge in the dash?

Ran out of gas? Now why would the Cd player of cut off then? Can you get it to autozone, to have them check the battery and alternator?

It's probably a bad battery or alternator.

You should also check your battery terminals and cables -- they might be loose or corroded.

hi,

i had a similar problem like this,

where my lights were dim when i was in drive and my radio was working at all and it stop complete on my in a street,

i would try to crank it but it wouldn't crank,

so his problem could be the battery and the alternator,

it makes a real fast repeating eeehhh ehhhh ehhh noise. few people said it might be the timing belt/chain.. could that be it? it turns over fine, radio comes on and all now... all lights are fine. smoke started comming out of the intake manifold, and one time it started ok, i rev'd it and all, then after about 30 seconds, it died again. it's backfiring a little bit as well..
