One-Touch Sunroof

Is this possible? I'm looking for some of the wiring gurus to get in here and see if we can make this possible...This would be an awesome mod!

I looked into it a long time ago (probably 5 years ago when I got my car). There isn't a simple rewire or anything that I could figure out. You can buy aftermarket kits and hook it to the sunroof. They make a lot of kits for windows that can also be applied to sunroofs.
Search google for more info. I think Autoloc, viper and probably a bunch of other companies make them.

I was playing with sunroof wires when hooked up a new rearview mirror.
First of all, there is no "power" to sunroof relay when key is off. So you'll need to supply "power" first (which is not simple). When sunroof has "power", "closing" wire (don't remember the color) needs to get a "ground" impulse (2-3 seconds) which will allow sunroof to gi up (same way as you would press and hold sunroof button "close").
Easy enough?

there should be another relay i guess ... i would give you a better idea "how to" but i didn't bother to remove headliner completely.

take a "tester" and go through the wires (look to the right side from maplights unit).

talking maplights unit - there are 4 wires coming to it:
- 2 wires are power and ground for maplights;
- other 2 wires: "open" sunroof and "close" sunroof

So did you already do this? I'm confused, if you did give me a ghetto paint drawing and what kind of relay you used and stuff

like i said - i was "playing" with sunroof wires when installed a rearview mirror.

if I would do something like this, I would find a power wire coming to sunroof. I would install second relay with a negative trigger (same negative trigger as for a "close" sunroof wire from a maplights unit).
Negative trigger ("ground" impulse) in this case will activate both, second relay and "close" sunroof wire.
"Ground" triger has to "last" for several seconds, which will allow sunroof to open (or double 2 seconds impluse - for sunroof to close).

I'm giving you something to work with - you decide if you want to proceed with this mod or not.

do u need a delayed 2nd pulse since when you hold the button it stops like 2 inches and u need to release and push it again?

as far as I know ... meaning, yes

EDIT: I'm not sure (in fact, I simply don't know) if it is mechanical or there is an actual miniswitch on the sunroof rail

Could one of you guys draw up a "schematic" in paint or something, showing all the wires now and all the wires and relays that needed to be added? I'm guessing I could get a power wire from the CD player correct? Or would that drain my systems performance?
