factory alarm

Do all the doors and the trunk lock securely? The alarm only engages when car is fully locked. Make sure all your latches are secure.
BTW, I am sure you already knew that the light does blink for the first 30 seconds after you lock all doors before turning off.

if you lock the car and shut the door, the SECURITY light should stay on solid for 30 seconds and then the system is armed
if it's always blinking, it thinks one of the sensors is open (one of the doors, hood, or trunk), check those switches to make sure they're working

I have an 89' and my security light blinks constantly, and i'll lock all my doors...and my car alarm goes off by itself and I can't make it go off for anything when I want it to go off....so if any one can tell me how to preven this from happening i would appreciate it...thanks
