This should be a fun one.
I need to replace the exaust studs on the rear manifold of a 93GXE.
Does ANYONE have a detailed explanation of whats involved and what tools, etc I will need to do this?
The exhaust noise is annoying and I don't want my wallet to be $$ raped by an exhaust shop or the dealer.
Thanks
Greg

jack
jack stands (at least 2)
full socket set (just because).. I think you'll need 10,12,14,17,19mm sockets.
2ft long breaker bar, 1/2" drive. socket needed is 17 or 19mm. there is an english one that's VERY close, so I just used my hardened steel sockets on them (and still broke TWO of those sockets removing the crossmember)..
long and short ratchets (not absolutely necessary, but helpful) several lengths of extensions will be required. at least a 4 and 8".
22mm open end wrench (for removing O2 sensor)
drill with assorted size bits
stud extractor/ EZ-out.
misc pliers
liquid wrench
SAFETY GOGGLES

what's involved:
remove Y-pipe
remove rear manifold- may or my not require removal or rear engine mount and possibly crossmember (that big bar under the engine)..
pull out old studs
drill out broken studs.
install new studs..
reassemble.

that's about it.. it's a lot more involved than it sounds. not much working room, unless you're on a lift.
