Tranny Questions

I have a '94 SOHC Maxima with an auto tranny. I've owned it for a couple of years so I wanted to change the fluid and filter for the tranny on it. Here we go:

I bought the filter but it didn't come with a gasket. The parts guy said to use silicone RTV, is this correct?

What fluid should I re-fill with and how much? I bought some Dextron III, is this what it takes? My Haynes repair guide doesn't give me a capacity, so knowing how much to have on hand would be helpful.

I did a tune-up this weekend and expected to change the tranny fluid and filter at the same time. I don't see an inspection pan on the bottom of my tranny. The only removable pan I see is on top of the tranny, under the air box and battery tray. Is this where the filter is? Again, stupid Haynes manual showed a different tranny with the pan underneath (where I expected to find it)

Where is the drain plug on the tranny? The only thing I see that looks like it would be it is a plug that is towards the drivers side wheel on the front. It looks like it accepts a 1/2" drive end. Is this my drain plug?

Thanks for your help.

yes the 1/2 plug is the drain. Not sure where the filter is though.I changed mine about a month ago. I just let it drain out real good.(dont be in know hurry let it drain so that you can get the most out of the converter as possible)I used a synthtic fluid in mine your tranny should run about 20 degrees cooler. I put in 4 quarts and then crank it up and it showed to be a little over full. but not enough to hurt it.

Thanks for your help.
