Hi everybody, my friend just GAVE me his 1993 maxima SE. It has 189k miles on it and one of the cylinder produces no compression. The car seems to be running fine, very smooth, air cond and everything is working, except when it is idling, it is a tiny bit rough.

My mechanic tells me today that it is not worth it to fix the cylinder and I need a new engine.

I LOVE this car!!!

I want to know if I can buy an used engine to put in it, if so, where should I go to find a reliable and compression tested used engine. I am in school right now so I have very little money, any suggestions?

Another good used engine is going to run about $1,200 + installation. Check the for sale section. You might get lucky and find one parting near you.

No compression? Does the exhaust smoke? Plug dirty?

if the engine runs fine why are you messing with it

my JDM engine was 1200$ delivered and expect nearly 1000$ to install it if you cant yourself
