T-belt and Water Pump question-????

I had my VG engine swapped out of my max in October 2002 after the water pump went and the timing belt snapped (brother's ex girl sold me the car put never told me it needed new pump and belt). A new pump and belt were put in and it's been running fine ever since. Now it's almost been 2 years and I wanna know what are the symptoms of a bad water pump and should I get it changed now or do I have a lil time left?

Bad water pump, when it goes bad usually just leaks. The interval of changing the timing belt by most people is 60,000 miles.

your T-belt snapped and your engine still works?

you're a lucky one, there's not much clearance in your engines, I'm surprise nothing crashed together.

change the pump when you change the belt. my original waterpump lasted til 100K, but you never know.

No my t-belt snapped and my engine decided to commit suicide as it snapped. I had a VG with 60k dropped in about 1.5 years ago but I dont want the same thing happening twice. Advancing my timing wouldnt hurt it by the way would it ??

I wouldn't want to chance it, so put it this way, its either labor on a timing belt and water pump and be worry free or take a chance, the belt snaps and maybe the engine commits suicide again and you need to pay for a motor and labor to drop in the sucker.

Exactly D-sta!! I'm thinkin I should do this probably withing the next month or two. How much is it normally? I paid 350 for them to put a new t-belt and pump at this junkyard when i first got my engine. Is that the normal or is that a good deal ?

that's about normal for cali. as long as you do the t-belt and waterpump, you might as well do the drive belt

There are no signs that it will fail. Even a visual inspection will tell you nothing unless it is damaged. Just change it at 60,000 intervals.
