gasoline smell through vents

so i got this gasoline smell coming out the vents. This is the first time i have encountered this, but i bought the car from my grandma who said she would smell it from time to time. does anyone have any insight on this. i am thinking its a small leak in the gas line, but thats as far as my common sense has taken me. So if anyone has fixed this sorta stinky problem, then let me know please. Also i think that its weird that the heater didnt put out hot air this time with the gas smell. ah **** i smell it again...lol

Simple fix, next time you smell it coming through the vents, turn the blower to high and simply spark a lighter...bamm! problem fixed!

Another fix (less deadly than DMad8724's suggestion ) is to replace the rubber fuel lines. More than likely they're cracked from old age.

I had the same problem the source of the leak was the hose going to the fuel rail (under the mainfold). It only leaked during in cold weather.

I had to bring the car to a mechanic to replace because the upper manifold had to come off. BTW - you will need two gaskets if you are removing the manifold.

Good luck

Did they have to replace a steel fuel line under the manifold or was it just hoses? I helped my friend on his WRX and under his manifold was a series of metal fuel lines.
