So how much is it? I know in some cars it is easy to do. But I ask some people and they say I need a lift. So how much do you guys usually pay? I need to switch to redline!

Do it yourself. There is a sticky in the fluids and lubricants section about this. All you'll need is a socket set (with a 1/2" driver), and a $0.99 funnel with the long tube from autozone. It took me about an hour, but alot of the time was trying to get the filler cap off and the actual refill, as the viscosity of the fluid is pretty high.
I bought redline fluid mt-90 from www.myoilshop.com for about $7 per quart (need about 5 qts). They have pretty fast shipping too. Use the promo code 675421 for 10% off.

. its real easy to do as well. all u need is a 1/2 in wrench and the drain plug is unscrewed and you drain it, put the plug ( low tranny light indicator) and then you just fill err up with almost 5 bottles of the redline MT-90and your all set. it helps alot in the summer, the heat wont effect it as much. well good luck.

I use Amsoil, If you go with Redline be absolutely sure it has a VLSD additive. A friend replaced his with it his LSD isnt working.
buy 5 quarts. It cost me about $50-60 after tax locally, and as these guys said, the part that takes the most time is filling/draining because of the viscosity.
Also make sure you loosen the filler cap before you loosen the drain. Mainly because if you drain it then find out you cant open the filler your SOL and also because it tends to make it drain faster.

I will be getting all the fluid out of the tranny I'm buying. Either by forcing it out w/a flush or by letting it sit w/the drain open for a few days. So what it the total capacity of this thing? I know sometimes when you drain most of the fluid is still inside.
Also, where's a good place to pick up Amsoil? Can I use synthetic since the tranny has 78K mi on it?
Thanx

Maybe you're thinking of an automatic tranny. When I drained my 5-speed transmission, almost all of the fluid came out. The fluid just sits in the housing, it doesn't go in any tubes or get pumped around. At worst, you can use ~1/2 qt of new stuff to "push" what little old stuff is still in there out. No need to wait for days to let it drain IMHO.
IIRC you can do a flush by disconnecting the cooler lines and having the one coming from the tranny dump into a bucket and the one going to the tranny you pour the new fluid into. Stop once the color of the fluid coming out is the same color as the new stuff (car has to be running though).
