anyone ever install a Warpspeed CAI?
anyone ever install a Warpspeed CAI?
it seems to me like the rubber 3" fittings that they send you don't fit somethings and they should be 3 1/2". Also it looks like it should have some type of bracket to keep it from shaking. I am also missing a few screws and the template to cut the fender. Has anyone every installed this so maybe you can help me solve these problems. I think i'm gonna have to call them up to talk about this
1> Try soaking the couplings in very hot water before you install them. It stretches them out a little. This way they'll fit and by the time you put them on they'll shrink right on to the pipes.
2>It wont shake once you finish putting everything in. I did mine and it took about 2 1/2 hours. The hole for the intake was the scariest part (cutting it to my car was like me watching surgery on TLC. I was cringing like a lil b**ch!)
3> When you put the pipe in you'll see exactly where to cut the hole at. It has to be at least about 3 1/2 in. in diameter

@andy21,
Check out my website, bro. I have some photos of the Bomz CAI I just installed into my car, and I used the template to cut the hole that was mentioned in an earlier thread in the 3rd Gen Forum (you'll have to look back to find it). Because the CAI I purchased and installed was designed for a 90-93 Honda Accord, I had to make a couple of modifications to it in order to get it to fit. One thing that I had to do on mine was to cut the coupling I used connecting the MAF adapter to the end pipe leading into the wheel well because one end was larger than the other
Don't know who the brainchild that designed this was because all the piping is 3" in diameter. Why anyone would ship it with a coupling that's got one end too small to connect a 3" diameter MAF adapter/MAF is beyond me...
I had to split the work into two different phases in order to get it done, (connected the "S"-shaped pipe from the TB to the MAF first, and used my old cone filter until I could work on it again. - "ram-intake" setup. The following weekend, I was able to set aside some time, figure out and make the proper modifications to the remaining CAI pieces, and finish the job). It's a wonderful mod - looks awesome and feels even better. I encourage anybody thinking about it to go for it. Changed the way I look at my car now! Since I don't have my y-pipe & cat installed yet, this is the best performance mod I've made to my car thus far. Once I get the y-pipe & hi-flow cat installed...
it's a whole different ballgame, I'm afraid.
Good luck on your install, bro!

What is the difference in sound between the two. I don't want something extremely loud. Cops around the area aren't real happy with all the ricers around, I don't want to fall in that category...
umm, I haven't heard any cars that just replaced the filter and not the pipe, but my friend just got a short ram intake and its pretty loud. If my friends CAMRY doesn't sound like rice, do you think the MAX will?

I stll have the tube that goes from headlight to the box for a ghetto short ram deal. I also have a five speed and as long as I shift at about 2500 rpm it sounds like stock, after 3k the brrrroooom comes and you'll hear it. I also have the y-pipe from warp. I love the sound when I go to 3k and let go of the gas, sounds like I got turbo, but don't have the psssst at the end. Just bbbrrrrrrooooooom, nothing like it.
I'm thinking about gettin the cai from cosmo for like 110 shipped, I need the low end powa.
I left the tube from the headlight to the box in too. I put a cone filter on the MAF and took out the silencer on the mid pipe(hose?), and plugged the hole with a PVC pipe cap turned upside down from the hardware store. It works!
