muffler suggestions?

Haven't seen a thread on it in awhile, and can't search. Any ideas for a muffler for a 94 gxe - price as main concern, but don't want it to sound ricey-civic. How about muffler ideas in general- for GXEs or SEs?

I bought a Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 Series and I love it. I paid about $70 for mine though.

muffler

i put a borla 2.25 in. in, 2.5 out and i get compliments from muscle car freaks. they are fairly quiet, (think lke sports car:ie porscehe) and yet it still rumbles enough to set off alarms in parking garages.

I have a magnaflow muffler, and I think it sounds real good. It has a nice low rumble at idle, and has a pretty mean sound at WOT. However, it does drone a bit cruising at ~2500rpm, but you can get used to it. I bought the stainless oval one from jegs, it was $90. You could also try a flowmaster, I've never heard one myself, but most people have good things to say about them.

i'd go with magnaflow over flowmaster myself. the magnaflow will last much longer being stainless steel and the magnaflow also sounds really good. like said above it does drone a bit in the 2500 rpm range but the way i drive my car on the highway i never have to worry about. i keep my rpms right under 3000 rpm to keep it in the peak torque area. (peak torque of the vg30e anyways. not sure where the vg-t's peak torque is when not boosting so i just keep it at the same rpm)

How can you call this "quiet" if it sets off alarms in parking garages?

Maxima 2000+ oem muffler. Damn quiet and I dyno'd at 175hp / 185ft lbs torque with it.

it is the vibration from the low rumble. the overall loudness is minimal. its not like a typical ricer (honda civic with soup can muffler loud) but you can tell its running.

IMO Remus is way overpriced for the small amount (if any) performance gain on a NA machine.

I'd vote for Magnaflow, fairly priced and nice sound.

if they do, i had a hard time finding it. also, flowmaster seems to really focus on larger engines in the domestic vehicles. their import mufflers are for small displacement engines (much smaller than 3 liter) so that doesn't really leave us with much from flowmaster. plus, my magnaflow was much cheaper than the flowmaster and the quality was a lot better. the flowmaster rusted in no time at all.

been there, done that. lost gobs of torque when i was n/a. might be a good idea if boosted but when normally aspirate i would never do that.

Am there, doing that.
Just like the noise.
Also depends on the pipe size you use.

what size piping you using?

speaking of liking the noise, i did get tons of compliments for how well it sounded however the droning was so bad i could barely even talk to anyone while in the car.

I have a Flowmaster. That thing is RICE. I thought it sounded pretty nice from the inside, but once i lent it to a buddy, it's too ricey from the outside.
