Nah. He has the right to choose wether to repare the damage or to refund me the cash I payed for the car. Of course he chose to refund me because he will probably try to sell that POS to some other unfortunate soul! Damn, I'm not going to be able to shop there again! It's time to find another Junkyard!

But an 03 max 6-speed will do about upper 14's is you can't drive stick. Oh yeah that's bone stock. Compare a corrolla of the early 90's to our maxima's not a corrolla of the 2k3. BTW a stock 5-speed VE can do about 14.8 stock. Now lets look at a VE with a turbo (maybe in the next few years) The VG turbo (off the 300zx) can do some damage to an 03 corrolla if modded right. BTW I'm talking about an auto with a VB mod and torque converter. Those are my next mods. HAHA. VE losers.

"VE losers." -----
How about a turbo VG verses a turbo VE?

I've seen one turbo VG but no Turbo VE's so you can't say a turbo VE vs. a turbo VG. Hopefully this summer I'll have all the 300zx turbo parts in stock to do the swap.

Ok, final update. I got back my $1500 and my new tires so i lost about $1000 in the process which is not too bad. With the money I got I now have to look for a tranny for my GXE so I can get my *** back on the road. Seems that after all of this my stepfather is not letting me quit on Maxima's just yet. I guess I will build Maxi straight from the bottom up again and make it a reliable commuter. Then this summer I will pick up junked up car to make it my project for fun. Will still keep you updated on my VG situation. And if anyone has a VG tranny IN GREAT SHAPE!!! please do let me know!

At least you got a pretty good sum of money back. Might check out www.car-part.com for some trannies or if you want something that should last you a while try phoenix hard parts (i believe that's their name). They rebuild a lot of trannies.

Um... probably his however I just found out recently that there is another turbo VG that was supposed to be pulling somewhere near 400 whp. I believe he goes under the name ghost on at least www.turbomaxima.com. Not sure if he kept the same name here or not.

hi, sorry to hear 'bout the bad luck. At least it seems like you might get a second chance! Have to say the following.. last year wife left, bought a 92 se with what I had left of my money and it gave me almost 3 months of joy before the engine blew.. dirt road in the country. Its a tragic tale, but I cant seem to save up the $2000 to replace engine and rebuild clutch. It cost me about $4200 by the time it was on the road. Man, I envy you guys with a hot, running max. Anyone know of VE30DE engine in the Toronto area and a good mechanic? It had just turned 300,000K the day before. There U have it...

I know an .org member who will sell you all that you will need for a manual tranny swap for your VG. I know it would take a bit more work than just swapping out the auto, but it'd be worth it

Sorry to hear about your mis-max-fortunes. I just paid 1500 for a Max in Houston and drove it nearly a thousand milse at extra legal speeds and the only failure was a weak cv boot. My "acquisition" is a 113K 1990 Maxima that is Pebble and Black, with three malfuntioning windows and a bent sun roof shade. I had to change the high preasure power stearing line before embarking on my 76.77 mph journey to Md-America, but if this baby was going to grenage, it would have done it at the begining of the trip. I-45 is a crazy place, there were nearly as many Texas DPS as speeders, but the guy in the ML 320 (thats a Benz) that blew up a'la NASCAR near Huntsville is probably wondering how that 14 year old Jap kept up...and in Dallas I marveled at the early 20-ish lass driving her shiny mid 90's Cavalier with the shakin tires while talking on the phone. Several miles up the North Central, there she was, left rear fender nearly totally missing from the car, and she's still talking on the friggin phone....
I bought this car for my 18 year old daughter to drive, replacing an 1991 Mazda Protege. Her mother saw the "new" Max and said:
"That car is too good for her, thats MY new car..."
So much for keeping the kid in a car...
So e have rotated the fleet. The 1998 Sentra is now the kid's car. The 1990 Maxima is now the wife's car, and the 1999 I30 is still MY car. $1100 buys the Mazda located in Bellevue Ne, not rust free, has minor hail damage, and no working A/C (compressor issue) but dependable and has newer discs on all corners as well as nearly new tires. Maaco did a wounderful j0ob mismatching the paint after the last "close" encounter, interior average for its age....but it DOES have a Sony CD.
Oh, back to your Maxima-see, things could be worse...
