Freeze plug removal

Freeze plug removal
Wanting to remove freeze plugs under the intake. Gave it a few good wacks on lip on one side with a punch/hammer. The plug doesnt turn. All I'm doing is driving the plug deeper, even thought I'm hitting it on just one side.
Any suggestions? If I do end up driving the plug into the water jacket, do I have any hope of ever getting it out and if so how?
Thanks

Most of the time I normally just smack them on just one side and they kind of "spin" then I just yank them out with pliers. Some guys drill and use a slide hammer.
When they do decide to be a pain and not want to spin I normally just dremel half of it out so it
so normally it would look like this:

and I cut the vertical parts in half or so (becareful not to cut too far though).

Drill a small hole in the plug and use a slide hammer and if u dont have a hammer screw a long wood screw into the hole only a few threads and use that as a handle and pull it out that way thats the way i did mine and it worked for all of them.
