Speaker problem

OKay I'm new to the site but I"ve looked and looked but I haven't found anything that has helped me. I bought some aftermarket 6 by 9's for my 89 max se, It still ahs the original bose system but the rear speakers were blown so I opted to replace them. I got the speakers mounted but when I tried to connect them all I get is a scratchy noise, no real sound. The old Bose speakers still get regular sound but it's crappy since ones blown and the other is dying. Anyone know what I can do to fix this? I also plan on adding a cd player to the dash instead of the old am/fm tape.

Check the FAQ's and Stickie's in the audio forum. The Bose system has integral amps mounted to each speaker, that's problem #1. Problem #2 is that the Bose operates with a screwy 1ohm setup.
Your going to have to get an aftermarkey Hu and an adapter to convert the signal to your front's from 4-8ohm to 1 ohm. the best solution would be to replace evrything with an aftermarket system. you will also need an adapter to convert the Nissan Diversity antenna to a standard plug. Cheers!

If you use aftermarket speakers and an aftermarket HU, your best bet is to bypass the amps.

Once you move away from Bose, you have to basically do the whole car. Some things may work in the short term, but eventually all of your amps and/or speakers will go and it's easier just to do the whole thing aftermarket.

just my $.02

You should be able to spend less than $200 on decent fronts for your max. You already have an HU and rears. Get an adapter harness($10), an antenna adapter($5-$10), and some speaker wire($5-$10). You might be better off running new wire from the HU to the speakers. Basically, you still have $170 for speakers!

To escape that problem I just had the entire system rewired when I changed the speakers and HU. I kept hearing other components don't work off the Bose setup.

spend that left-over money on some nice front speakers. the front speakers are more important than the rears. the rears are mainly just for fill.

Haha, I got fed up with trying to rewire my rear 6x9s (i had the bose system...) So I installed everything, routed most of the wiring, left my dash and everything undone and then took it to my aunts friend who wired it correctly for $30.

Good stuff
