a/c display is very dim

I have a 93 maxima gxe with digital air conditioning. recently when i have turned on the car, i turn on the a/c and can not see the display. at night i am able to see that the display is very very dim, and during the day it is nearly impossible to see because of the outside sunlight. however, sometimes when the car is on for a few minutes, the display goes back to normal. even sometimes when i turn on the car the display is fine, but usually the display is dim to the point where i have to guess what the ac is set to. anyone have any ideas?

I know this is fairly common, just posted the same question without seeing yours oops... anyways i know it's not a permanent fix but i just tap on mine and it lights up usually...i've seen another thread around with info on fixing it but can't seem to find it...anyways just keep on tapping the thing when you need until you can afford a new one i guess... or someone posts a fix
