turbo and 300z ecu question?

Ok i found my turbo set up on a 300z I think its a 84 or 87
well my mechanic is going to fabracate everything eles for the fit.
But what kind of things will i need to get it to work properly. Like for the
fuel and anything eles. Will the 300Z ecu work in my car and give the fuel needed. Im going to use the 300 injecters and a waltaboro fuel pump. So far that what ive gather that i will need. Any thing that you think I will need let me know the price of it too and where would a good place to get them from. I hope to have this done in two weeks and will posr pics when im done Thank for all your help!

OK BY THE WAY I HAVE THE VG30e

Hmm, you're asking these questions, yet you want a turbo? good luck.

you're also saying you have a 93 SE, but you have a VG30E?

ok...just a thought to ponder. if you're mechanic is doing the work then he should know what needs to be done. also, if this is to be finished in TWO weeks, don't you think you would have fuel delivery figured out by now?

Since the 300zx and our VG maxima's share the same engines I would make the assumption that everything is plug and play other than the turbo, x-pipe, and downpipe. Mtcooksons Website
More than likely you'll need to change the fuel rails, turbo manifold, and BOV. Just check out MTcooksons website he has a list of parts needed.

some people would assume thats its just plug and play from the ZX motor but as Mark and myself would know its not that simple...and for the record you can keep the stock fuel rails

ok i just view your webpage and if that really is your car then why do you wanna turbo it when youve added 8 million pounds of audio equipment...and if its a 93 SE then you have a VE30DE which means its eleventy billion times harder to turbo that then it is the VG...and adios to that tranny....i recommend you you first remove all that audio and then swap in a five speed....otherwise a turbo on that car will yeild no benifits...if anything it will probably bring the car back up to OE specs

this might not help that much but go over to www.300zxclub.com and post this question in the Z31 section they will tell you exactly what you need.

Why does it say 1993 in your info and on your webpage it says 1994?

Also, that is a GXE with a spoiler.

You'll need the 87-89 engine. I'm pretty sure the 84-86 engines won't work due to a shorter crank snout.

As for fabrication you'll either need to have a custom motor mount made or relocate the turbo since, in the stock location, the turbo is right where the motor mount needs to go. The 300ZX ecu won't work in the car and is a nightmare to try wiring up. I've tried it before and its a waste of time to try getting to work. You can just use your stock ecu and get a piggy back fuel controller (greddy e-manage, apexi s-afc, etc) or you can send the ecu to jwt.

I haven't found out for sure yet but I'm pretty sure the 84-86 injectors were low impedence, top feed and the 87-89 injectors were high impedence, side feed. If the 87-89's are high impedence and side feed you should be able to use those.

none of the usdm vg30et's had the intake manifold like ours. they all had the ones you mentioned. you can swap the intake manifold though since the heads and such are all the same. you have to swap the upper and lower plenum and also while you're down there you need to swap the piping for the coolant. this is a must as the stock vg30et is setup for rwd so it directs the coolant a different way than our maxima's do. doing all of the swapping is pretty simple work actually so there's not much to worry about when doing it.
