Catback system help needed now!!!

Hey guys...

Major emergency right now...I took the car into the shop today and all hell broke loose...

Anyways...I NEED to buy a Catback or B-pipe/muffler NOW! It won't pass inspection till I get all that done and it's 2 months late right now...

I can't find a Greddy SP catback anywhere...I dunno if I should just call WarpSpeed and get a B-pipe and some muffler...

PLEASE HELP ASAP!! Joel

If it's such a hurry.....go to a Midas or even a mom n pop muffler shop and have them bend one for you. It's how most cars get replacement cat-backs.

Well this kinda puts a twist on it now...
I just called two different places.
One of those being Greddy themselves...Since I have a GXE and the Greddy SP model is for the SE it does not work for my car b/c it is for the SE model. They said they hadn't tested it but that the two different models had different emissions systems as in they won't bolt up the same way... sux!!! What should I do??? Should I just buy the WarpSpeed B-pipe and some other muffler like a Remus, Magnaflow, or Flowmaster???

What differences are there between the SE and GXE exhaust? I swapped an SE exhaust onto a GXE the other day with absolutley no problems.

And please tell me that you didn't pay 260 just for a muffler..............

the SE and GXE exhausts are 100% interchangeable.
BTW I can get Remus, don't know why you'd want them though.

well I didn't buy it yet...so I guess I won't go for Remus...

I just want a nice muffler that has a really deep tone...

So does the Greddy SP for the SE really work on the GXE??

Internet Auto Mar...I'll probably get a Magnaflow from you then...
let me know how much they are and what they look like and such...THANKS guys for keepin me from spending money on junk!!!

If you can, get a Civic cat-back exhaust. They fit damn-near perfectly on our cars. Thats what I did. Gave it a real nice throaty sound, no rice at all! lol

Why get a Remus?
There's three major reasons why to buy a Remus exhaust.

Reason #1:
Remus brand itself. Remus is a very popular brand among the high end luxury and sport cars. Remus is the leading industry in sports exhaust. It provides exhaust systems to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) of cars like BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche, and many more.

Reason #2:
Remus is the only muffler proven to give you the maximum performance out of an exhaust system. When you try to save money and buy a cheaper exhaust then Remus or even a cheap universal muffler you will be surprised in what you really get. When you buy anything besides Remus you are most likely to loss horsepower then gain and also make your car louder then a 1980 Ford without a muffler. Here is a little description of how the system works.

Imagine your exhaust system works like a water hose. When your car has a stock exhaust it is the same as you have a water hose with a regular sprayer. It work fine, and sprays the water out well. When you get an aftermarket muffler other then Remus, imagine this as taking the sprayer off from your hose and spraying the water out that way. You will notice that instead of the hose spraying the water it will just flow out of the hose and not spray at all. Same with the aftermarket muffler you have no filters holding the air flow, the design of the air flow on the aftermarket muffler doesn't exist and all it is doing is opening the air flow to your exhaust providing to much back pressure meaning "LOSEING HORSEPOWER." Not only do you loss horsepower with an aftermarket muffler but it also makes you car so loud you can't even stand it after a while. When you put a Remus on your car, Remus is designed to reduce the back pressure and provide the most perfect air flow possible. It is the same as taking your water house and changing your regular sprayer with a super one like a Euro Blaster which would actually keep the back pressure so the water can build up and provide a straight and perfect air flow so the water can shoot out as far as possible.

Reason #3:
If you ever had an cheap aftermarket exhaust before you will never go back to it again. It is so ridiculously loud, that it will drive you nuts after time. You get that cheap muffler for $40 - $150 and you think it will get you more horsepower and become this great thing on your car. But after putting it on you'll find out your car didn't get any faster more like slower and it sounds like someone just put a hole in your muffler pipe. You might like it the first couple of days but after driving it daily you'll regret of ever putting a piece of garbage on your car like that. Remus not only provides the maximum horsepower but it actually sounds the same as your stock muffler when you are not revving your RPMS. When you Rev your RPMS it sounds like you are in a Ferrari, nice and low deep tone. Not loud at all like those Civics you hear on the street. If you ever heard a Porsche or a new M3 fly by you. That is the same sound your car will sound like when you floor it with Remus exhaust equipped on your car.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Few quotes from our customers:

Heh-heh, I hear ya. That's exactly what I thought when I first compared Remus to other exhausts on the market. I was baffled why Remus was practically 50% more costly than everything else (and only the muffler too), but after wasting money on other brands (along with brand x's), I finally went with the Remus and it was exactly what I was looking for.

I wanted something that sounded great, looked good, but still be quiet enough in the cabin to carry around passengers comfortably during normal conditions. Remus was able to achieve that while other mufflers could not. I was able to retain low and mid range power, along with low cabin noise. So for me, the extra money invested was worth it (twice in fact ... the Millenia is the second car I got a Remus for).

It looks fantastic! Well, IMHO anyway. I think the chromed rolled square tips really compliment the Millenia. They are subtle enough not to get noticed by the police looking to pull over the coffee cans, but elegant enough to attract gazers. It's a lifetime investment you only need to shell out once that's worth every penny.

I got my 5th gen for 40 bucks. I didn't get any slower and it made my exhaust sound better.

IMO, there is no sense paying freaking 200 bucks for a muffler when it does pretty much nothing to our cars other than make them fart. The only setups I've heard that dont fart are my 5th gen setup and a Greddy.

You work for Remus or something?

Somehow I don't think a Remus muffler is going to give a Maxima significantly more power than any other straight-through muffler.

Ha. That highly technical statement about the water hose was good for a chuckle. That's the best Remus could do??? No mention on what TYPE of muffler it is? No contruction type? No flow rates???

I always thought Remus was a quality muffler but that explaination is poor at best.

And you are right. An aftermarket muffler might give a few ponies. But when you compare inbetween various aftermarkets, the hp gain difference is small. Only if the one of the designs was so crappy that it flowed WORSE than stock would there be any difference.

Most mufflers do the same. It's how it's constructed and how it sounds is where the big difference is. Easy to make a muffler flow and sound like a riced out Civic(as that's basicly a hollow tube). Much more difficult to get it to flow AND to be quiet.

That being said, I love my 2000 maxima varible chamber muffler.

Consider how big the exhaust pipes are on a small 4 cylinder Civic. Then think about if you want something made for a civic on your 3.0 liter maxima

Yes, you can fit it. It may sound ricey in your mind, but on the car it sounds great. It's 2.5" piping with a resonator and it sounds great! Check on my website on page 6.

Hell yeah it was worth it, and I got it off of one of my ricer friends for a whimpy $75 for the whole system!!!

BTW: How does it look out of proportion? The piping fit in there almost perfectly.

@MaximaBalla...

What year Civic cat-back exhaust did you get, and what mods did you have to do to get it to fit?

After I read your reply, I decided to do a bit of shopping on eBay and found this EVO catback setup for a 96-00 Civic 3-door. Would this fit? The entire catback system is selling for only $179.00!!! The only problem I see with this one with my setup is that it's a 3" dia. setup, but my y-pipe & high-flow cat are only 2.5" dia. Will this work, or will it not make any difference?

Holla back... This is a major revellation!!!

3" on a N/A maxima is overkill, I can't imagine what it is like on a Civic. Also, note that shipping is $60 so the total amount is approaching the cost of a WSP cat-back with a magnaflow muffler. As for fitment, I have no idea.

Yes, that system would work, but like I did, you'd have to modify the hangers. Also, have a muffler shop professionally do it. I had the hookup, so mine is all custom done. He had to shorten the piping a little because it was too long on where I added it, but other than that, it fit perfectly. Good luck man
