Alternator Removal

Does anybody know where i can find a write up on how to remove the alternator from the '92 SE maxima... I had done it to my old '90 GXE with my dad, but this one seems to be a lil' different... Thanks

should be very similar

check out www.4dsc.com/articles for the writeup on the underdrive pulley and also the article on alternator replacement (it's for a VG)

between those you shouldn't have any problems

i just did an alternator swap and it was suprisingly easy.

- disconnect the battery entirely
- remove the splash shield
- remove the electrical connections, all found on the left side of the alternator. mark where on the alternator (maybe with a sharpie) the connections were, as well as which wires go where.
-at the top of the alternator, you will find two bolts, loosen these, but dont take them off yet.
- the tension bolt is found in a slot at the bottom of the alternator, which controls what angle the alternator sits at, which determines the belt tension. make a mark where the bolt is... then remove it.
- remove the bolts at the top of the alternator (watch out here, you don't want an alternator in the face)
- the alternator should still hang on there, a good tug should bring it right off though.

i did the swap with a socket wrench and two bits, nothing else... it all took less than an hour total.

...woops, this is for a gxe. oh well
