Back in the Saddle

Ok well I sold my 91 SE Max to a friend of mine and bought an Impreza. Now he's going to Japan though and I'm buying it back from him. I'm going to be getting a raise soon and the ol'girl could use a tune, turn and burn. I'm compiling a preliminary shopping list for after I attack the "shakes."

This is what I have so far:
Warpspeed Y pipe
3" exaust if I can find one. Which?
Stillen short ram intake.
FSTB, RSB, springs and struts. Which?
Short shifter for a manual. Which?
New ****. Will a 350Z NISMO **** fit?
New steering wheel, maby OEM nothing fancy.
New seats. Which?
Fog lights, never had the stock ones. Which?
UK smoked corners. Where?
BMW lights*
Some kind of keyless entry. Which?
Maby new rims mine are dinged from the guy before me.
New paint job. I'm thinking silver or white, the pearl has got to go.

*Found this site off google. I'd like to get the angel eye ones but I'm not sure if I could get them to work. Anyone done this or is it close to the same as swaping the stock ones. Of course I got the idea from Craig Brace's site in the FAQ thread, give credit where credit is due. Even without the angel eyes his car looks awsome.

Of course for all the parts I asked "Where?" to find, I will check Ebay, but if you know a better place please let me know. The ones followed by "Which?" I'd like to know if you could recommend a brand or type. Well thats all I can think of for now, any questions or comments please feel free to be heard.

If you can find a Greddy you might want to get that, otherwise just go with a WarpSpeed Performance (WSP) 2.5" catback. 3" is too much.

I'd just look for a used one, or just go with MAF adapter + filter/midpipe/cai

FSTB you can get the ebay ones. RSB you can get the Addco or the ST, and struts springs well that depends on what your looking for.

Thanks for the compliments. I got my E36 lights for cheap but I didn't want to spend any more to get projectors and/or angel eyes. The light output with stock E36s is much better than the 9004 bulbs in the maxima. You can get them much cheaper than that site you found. Check ebay and also do some research on www.bimmer.org and www.dtmpower.net and see where those guys get them from.

for suspension - if you can afford it, get eibach springs and koni struts. The install for Koni is a little more work but worth it from what I've heard. I have KYB GR2 which are pretty nice, but if you're going any lower than eibach, I wouldn't recommend it. Check ebay for FSTBs cheap. Check out www.internetautomart.com for struts, springs, and maybe sway bar. Also check out www.mattblehm.com for more suspension stuff if you really wanna get crazy.

I have a pacesetter short shifter which is very nice. I got it from ebay a while back for $50 or so.

UK corners - you probably wont be able to get yours hands on an authentic set of these. Maximas are very rare over there, and the corners cost over $100 each. I happened to know a guy over there who was selling his maxima so I was able to trade him some clear corners for his UKs. Talk to Michael (awsm66). He uses a mixture of clear coat and tint paint and makes it look just like the UK ones. I've seen other spray on tints that looked cheap, but Michael uses high quality automotive paint and it wont fade or yellow, and he's mastered the right mixture to get the color right. It'll match the BMW lights perfectly.

keyless entry - I've used crimestopper units a lot and had good luck with them. I've installed 5 or so of them and advised people to help install tons more. I only know of one guy (portdave) who had problems with it, but he talked to the company and they got him a new unit that worked fine without too much hassle.Check my webpage for wire colors. Since you have a 91 and no door lock timer (92-94 only), you'll have to tap the lock/unlock wires behind the fuse box in the harness going into the door. It's a pain, but doable.

I wasn't aware that the door locks had timers...my '92 doesn't automatically lock after a certain amount of time, or is that some other meaning???

You guys think this wheel would fit on my car? I've also been throwing around the idea of cutting my quarter panels and slapping on some of these to begin my cars conversion to a 4 door silvia.

Then I wake up and smell the rice.

Well, to answer your first question, the wheel should fit with no problem. IIRC, someone here actually HAS one on their car. Don't ask me who, though...

...and if you DO get those corners to go on your car AND fit AND look good, then you'll have accomplished something nobody (on this forum, anyway) has done as of yet.

Is the hieght of the silvia corners the same??? gots to find out the dimensions man....

I like the idea though, they have a similar looking corners on the Stanza too, those might be a closer fit.

I asked for high res pics of that auction and I think he might be stalling me so she's all yours.

Can anyone suggest some fog lights that would match or look good with these projectors? Also can someone suggest a grill that looks good with these lights on a white car?
