is there a point?

i just got a 1992 maxima GXE a week ago so i no nothing and im sure this has been asked many time alread but it wont let me seach so i have to ask. i dont care for power in the max so i dont plan on modding it (my camaro is for raceing). is the stock intake system on a 92 GXE restriced or does it give the engine what it needs to breath? im trying to decide if i should get CAI on or not, like i said i dont care to make it faster but if the stock intake just sucks then putting a CAI is a must right.

The stock system is fine... some of us have been using it for the past 12 years

A pop charger (aka cone filter) wouldn't be a bad choice, though expect minimal (if any) gain. You will, however, get a much nicer (more noticable) sound coming from the engine bay.

dont bother, I've had the stock stuff for 12 years and counting. If you dont want any power, dont spend the money.

I actually got a noticeable amount of power out of the intake when I put mine on... but it made the car MUCH louder while on the gas. If you like quiet, leave it alone. As you said, you've already got a fast car. let this one be the comfortable one.

I think my pop charger helps in the mid to upper RPM band, around 3k and up. Below that I don't notice much of a difference. My y-pipe actually went on before the pop charger. With both in place, I noticed not only improved performance, but improved gas mileage.

I think my butt dyno needs to be recalibrated. The only mod I ever actually really felt was the ECU

a better air filter setup will increase gas mileage though.
