It is but it's alot cheaper to just sell your current max and buy a VE max. If you have a VE just laying around and is mechanically and electronically skilled then go right ahead. But it takes time and money to do. Your have to change the ECU and EVERYTHING that's hooked up to it. That can run into the thousands without any installation being done yet. If you are up to such a challenge then become a pioneer and put in a VQ (95-current maxima's).

Ohh yeah Welcome to the .org :noobie:

well yea, i do know of a ve thats lying around. i'm thinkin about selling my current engine...but how much do you think its worth? it runs seriously reaally good, but it has 153-4k on it. the tranny can go to a friend of mine who needs one for his 90 se with the same engine. so how much do you think it would be for the engine plus ecu and everything?

If you take the used route it might run for about 500 at the junk yards for the items. The problem isn't really the engine. It's the tranny too. You must get a tranny (5 speed swap). Tranny's run for about 700 anywhere used. That is unless you have that lying around too.
