I've got a '89 Maxima. The front driver side window is intermittent. I can only lower it with the automatic down button but it doesn't stay down. It will automatically close without warning.
There's a ticking sound coming from inside the door panel. I've had to disconnect the wiring because the regualtor or whatever's making the ticking sound continues even after the ignition's off and it drained my battery.
Any ideas? My Haynes manual is worthless in this department.

 

get a multimeter and start testing.
chances are the main switch is failing.
