Auto Tranny Issue - Surprise! Surprise!

Well I was heading home lastnight on the highway. Probably only doing around 65 and the damn tranny kept shifting back and forth between 3rd and 4th gear. I've never had it do this to me before and well...it's freaking me out. I put in a tranny cooler last weekend could that be the cause of my issues? The tranny fluid level is correct so I don't see what else could be going screwy...
could it be a faulty drop resistor?

let me know if you guys have any suggestions. thx

Are you on and off the gas. If so just put the cruise control on.

Try blocking the cooler with cardboard and see what happens. I can't imagine it being too cool in July but you never know

well i am in Canada...lol
but it's doubtful that my tranny fluid is too cool. i've got nothing to lose though, so i'll try the cardboard.

i'm steady on the gas maintaining a certain speed....but setting the cruise control is a good suggestion, i'll give it a whirl.

It may also be because you're right at the point where the VG shifts from 3-4 in comfort mode at part throttle, but that doesn't seem right to me though, because the down shift is supposed to happen at 45

i've been thinking that the power/comfort button may be the culprit. it likes to act up every so often.
i generally just hate my auto tranny, so maybe it's just the tranny trying to get revenge?

Power/Comfort causing wierd shifts at 65? Doesn't sound right, heck, you don't even need that switch plugged into the car for it to run if I recall correctly. This sounds more like a gradual hill climb that is just enough to make the engine not really find a comfortable spot but since this is the first time you noticed the problem then it's probably not the right explanation.

I also did the tranny cooler install myself a couple of weeks ago and didn't have any problems. You did make sure you put the tranny cooler after inline after the radiator right? This way you don't end up heating the fluid from the radiator...

the tranny cooler is mounted infront of the rad. my a/c has never worked and i didn't feel the need to fix it. so i ripped out the condensor and the rest of the a/c system.
