does anyone know what this ticking noise can be and can it be fixed without much cost?? I am interested in doing this job myself. I think it is the rocker arm or valve?

if u have a ve motor then it might be your vtc...$$$$

 

it says he has a 91 (VG engine) so I would guess exhaust manifold studs.

 

I am certain that it is not the exhaust manifold studs as this sound is way different than that... I have a minor oil leak from the main pulley and when I have the right amount of oil it does not sound but when I start to get to what I would say somewhat of a low level the valve or rocker arm ticks at the 2-6 cylinders.... I know which one it is cause when I changed the injectors, i pulled apart the valve cover to replace the gasket and i played with the arms and one (which I think is the one that makes noise) has some play... I dont know from there what it is...

I think i will just fix the main pulley gasket...

I had a oil leak and I had a ticking sound from the heads. Usually when you have an oil leak and the oil level gets low you get that ticking sound.
