A/C Compressor

Hi All this is going to seem like a silly question but I'm wondering if all of you with A/C have listened to how loud your compressor is under the hood. The reason I ask is I just has a rebuilt compressor installed and I can just hear it running under the hood with the window rolled down at idle. I open the hood and I can hear it running the pistons while engaged. How do other peoples compressors sound are they silent or do they make a little noise. It's making a very normal sound to me it just seems loud. I'm sure this is sounding a little lame, mabey I'm just paranoid but any feed back would help put my mind at ease that it's not a bearing or something.

thanks all

It's not unusual for a rebuilt compressor to make more noise than a new one

Mine's original, and I can hear it run...but not too loud or anything. As long as it 's not squealing or screeching or anything like that, it's probably fine.

If the compressor was rebuilt by Four Seasons, Factory Air, or one of the other brands sold by the same company, it might be especially loud. I bought one of those a couple years back and wound up junking it and installing a new one from Nissan. MUCH better.
