piggie cai design

piggie cai design
so i remember awhile back some people here had an idea for a new style cai for the vg motor. i believe n34jz was kinda leading the idea. anyways, piggie made cai's of the same design eventually.
one of the issues that was discussed briefly was extending the maf wires and relocating the maf. the main concern was that by lengthening the wires the resistance the maf needed to register correct readings for the ecu would be disrupted. also people were saying that the maf had to be a certain distance from the throttle body or else (once again) the readings from the maf to the ecu would be different.
was this all bogus specualtion or not?
i'd like to either purchase a piggie cai or make one of the same design myself.
'antonthegrey' is selling one and i'm thinking of buying his. he says that it worked great and he didn't notice anything odd happening from the maf relocation...however i was looking for other opinions on this intake from people who arent selling one (no offence anton )
is it more effective than the place racing design?
will the maf be affected by being relocated?
it's too bad that piggie disappeared/ran away without getting more of his cai's out the org members. i'd really like to hear some more feedback.
thanks ppl

I don't see how lengthening the wires would affect anything as long as they are DECENT gauge wires and not old speaker wire from dad's 1972 8-track player.
the VG MAF is about what, 24"+/- or so from the TB right? so if distance is a concern, you've got plenty to work with

Please explain in technical terms why anything must be better than the pr cai?

I extended the wires on my maf for the turbo setup and used some wires that came on an old wiring harness. I also used some shielded wires for the two wires that are shielded on the maf. I noticed no problems at all in doing this.

jeff,
for one the pr cai is quite expensive when you can get the accord design which is essentially the same for $50 off of ebay.
second, the piggie cai design should technically perform better because there's only one bend in the tubing. with less tubing for the air to flow through, it won't lose much veloctiy and the air will stay cooler because it doesn't sit in the engine bay as long.
third, it will give me more room in the engine bay to run ThAT CraZZYY TwiN TurBO SeTUp YO!
chris,
i'd prefer not to extend the maf wires but...i have 3 extras mafs kicking around and it seems that it will likely not affect anything so....who cares if it blows a maf.

You think that was my purpose? I'd have a harder time shooting fish in a barrel with shotgun. Point was you made a pretty general statement that I wanted clarification on. There is enough bad information as it is in here.
Good luck with whatever intake you choose.
