Speedometer not moving...

Hello All!
Just started today. The car (89 Maxima SE) starts without any problems from the first crank. When driving the speedometer arrow won't move, dashboard lights are like dead, had to turn off headlights just in case... No warning lights ot any changes in driveability...

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

since the dash lights don't work i'd just check for a burnt fuse to start with.

Thank you, guys!
Just test-drove it - speedometer works fine, couldn't test the lights, though - it's too bright in San Diego now Anyway, I'll try and check fuses - looks like there's a loose contact or something...
Cheers.

how does one test the speed sensor?
Mine seems to be intermittent, so I've just ordered a replacement from RockAuto.com
Hopefully I haven't paid $67 for nothing!

Happy Motoring!

most of the time its just the wires going into the speed sensor. the sensor is location on the top of the lower section of the tranny (near the fire wall). just make sure no wires are broken and that the harness is connected together well. might also check for some corrosion in the connector.
