Newbie! Max questions. Help.

Hi forum, as you can tell im a newbie and i needed to ask some questions. First off i have a 92 se. The vtc's are grounded, and have no other mods. after the vtcs were grounded i went on a short road trip. when i got back home i noticed a buzzing sound coming from under the valve covers. its not the manifold studs or anything, already had that checked. it is from under the covers. its sounds kind of like a cricket making that chirping noise. please let me know if that is a serious sound. i bought the car with 107,000 miles on it and now it has 122,000. still rides smooth as day, but the noise is scaring me. the more rpms that are going the faster the chirping. when i first got the car i went about 7000 miles without changing the oil. i know, its my first car and i didnt knowe any better. does that have anything to do with it. Also what can i buy from Home Depot to fill in my motor and transmission mounts. I actually bought the rear motor mount and had it installed, but right now i cant afford the part or the labor. Thanks.

Have a shop check it out. Oh, and if was synthetic oil in before, 7000 miles is nothing. Don't worry.

went to several shops even nissan certified shops and they claim rthey never heard a noise like it before or so they claim and they want to charge me large amounts of money to diagnose what it is. It doesnt sound harmful at all its just annoying from the outside of the car. bearly hear it on the inside. cmon this is "the org" someone knows something or car point me in a "decent" direction. also what can i do for the mount mentioned above. thanks.

also for the oil i just didnt know. people were telling me to look at the oil and if it wasnt dark dont worry so i did it for a while and people looked at it and said oil had more miles on it. i didnt know that preventative maintenance was every 3-5,000 miles. but now i know .

lifters

Hey I believe I have the same sound as you. It tends to go away upon warmup, but not always. Sometimes it starts up without the problem at all. Before I noticed these traits I had taken it to the mechanic down the street (he's a pretty knowledgable guy). He told me it sounded like the lifters were clacking and that in my condition it's not going to harm anything and I shouldn't worry about it (I've got 145000 and I'm planning on driving it until I need a new engine, hopefully JDM). If someone else has information on it let me know. I've had offers from friends to work on the lifters with me but I don't have any time because I'm always working or as August comes to a close I'm heading back to Troy, NY for school.
