1989 Transmission Filter and Fluid

I'm looking to change the tranny fluid and filter on my 89 Maxima. Only had it for a short time. The Haynes manual says that it is internal to the transmission and to have it serviced by a shop. Does anyone have the procedure on changing it and if it's a difficult task? I've done some GM's and they're relatively easy but never a Nissan. Any help would be appreciated!!

filter is buried in the tranny. you need to separate the halves to get to it.

it's just a drain and refill procedure. drain plug is by the front tranny mount. 1/2 inch square plug.
