I Love My Maxima

So, I had to drive across state yesterday for a funeral and to visit my parents.

Although I had a late start, the 150 miles I had to go went by quickly, the speedometer hanging around 75-80 all the way (not too bad for a two lane state highway). With the A/C blasting, I got there on time!

For the return trip, I decided to take it a little easier, speedo only around 70-75, the A/C still blasting, the roof window wide open and totally enjoying the drive looking up at the stars in the sky!

Got back with 311 miles on the odometer and about 3/8 tank left. For us "old timers" who like to measure mileage by the gallon instead of by the tank , that was 31.3 mph.

Although it's frustrating some times when I can't quite get all the problems worked out quickly, and I wonder if my max would ride better with different tires and/or wheels and I wonder if the overall road noise level could be reduced with some dynomat...

I love having power on reserve when running down the highway at 75 and the passing lane is open...

I love the joy of driving probably the best overall car I've ever driven...

I love having that sports car feel and the smooth sound of that engine under the hood when I'm in the passing lane and cranking by 3 cars at a time...

I love cruising down the highway at 80 mph in overdrive and my tach is running around 2300 rpm...

I love pulling into the gas station after all this exhilaration and seeing how miserly that same engine is when it comes time to feed it...

Also...I forgot...

I love having an engine with 138K on it and it doesn't use a drop of oil between changes...
