Fuel related starting problem?

Every once in a while my car won't start. It will try to turn over but just keep cranking. It doesn't make an odd noise when doing this. It makes the usual noise when you start your car except it won't turn over.

I usually just keep turning the key and eventually it will start. I know it's not the starter b/c I've had it changed a few weeks ago and just had it checked. Anybody got any tips? Anything would be appreciated, thanks.

Did it again today after not happening for a couple of days. Could it be the fuel filter? Anyone else experience this problem?

I have to hold the key and just let the car keep trying to turn over for about 30 seconds and then it starts and kinda putt putts, but runs fine. I've also noticed that my every once in a while my RPMs fluctuate a bit, kinda like I'm stepping on the gas, except I'm stopped at a red light. Is the battery a possibility? Fuel pump?

I searched around on yahoo and found somebody having a similar problem, but with a different car, they said the coolant temp. sensor was the problem. I need to move the wires around on mine to get the fans started, could this be it?
