Why horrid ride after being lowered?
I got my car lowered at kauffman tire about 4 weeks ago and got some new Monroe Sensatrac shocks and struts put on my car and now its ride has completly gone to heck. Its not too stiff, its the fact that going through level turns my car will hit bottom, going over the bridges on the free way, i hit bottom, even going down the street, on almost any imperfection I will bottom out and Smack the heck out of my bump stops. Kauffman claims tahts normal but something doesnt tell me it is, because if it is why would people spend hundereds of dollars to feel their bump stops? Is there something wrong with the suspension set up that they did?

Some people have complained about premature failure on Tokicos, but I haven't heard anything bad about them while they did work...lol. I have them along with Eibach springs in my other car, and I love them (Tokico HP - Blues).

what lowering springs did you get?
The struts should not be a problem that quickly, but they will wear out very fast and have no warranty on a lowered car.
my money is on the springs being linear and that gives a crappy ride

You do realize that the front springs on a set of Eibachs are linear, right?

If they are, they sure don't look it. There are only 3-4 turns anyway. But, I guess the point I was trying to make is that just because springs aren't progressive, doesn't mean they are total crap.

No they're not. Eibachs are linear front, progressive rear. I used to have the spring rates around here somewhere.
Linear springs do NOT give a crappy ride, if you choose the proper springs for the application. ALL racing springs are linear. always have been, always will be. street cars have progressive springs in the rear so that they don't squat horribly when you put a load in the trunk.
Tokico Blues DO NOT have problems on 3rd gens either. I had over 50k miles on a set before selling them to someone else, and they still had plenty of life left. (FYI, Nissan uses Tokico as an OEM supplier. they're not poor quality stuff.) the 4th gen Tokicos are a little under-valved and they use lightweight oil in them so they start out soft and tend to wear quicker than the 3rd gen ones.
Monroes are just crap- on any car.

i've had blown stockers, monroes and gr2's on my car and nothing has impressed me yet. i guess my next stop is tokico st., then koni lane., then the ocean if i can't get something to perform right..
however,
i will credit much of my discust to the suspension techniques springs i have on my car...

Yeah, I have Suspension Technique springs w/ GR2 struts and I bottom out on a lot of things in the front of my car. If the road is a little wavy or it has a decent size dip, I'll hear it! lol And, this is also w/ 17's with 225/45 tires.

one thing it could be is you are supposed to trim your bumpstops in half (height)this i qoute from the instructions i got w\my sprint springs i bought new dustcovers\bumpstops from tirerack(10$x4)and trimmed in half(about an inch off em)i had tokicos blues (they came w\the car and were old)and 2"drop sprints )and the ride wasnt all that bad .i had it low for 2years+30 k miles and recently swapped to a stock setup and discovered my tokico blues are blown grrrr......you can carefully trim them without dismantaling it all ....just jackup the car and safely support it and reach through the coils and trim and rotate the bumpstops but BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO SCRATCH OR CUT THE SHOCK PISTON ROD AS IT WILL BLOW THE SEALS WHEN IT GOES IN AND OUT good luck +happy motoring

i have have that combo, it sucks eibach, sus tech, gr2-- lots of back end noise-- shakes and rattles, but the shop i had do it left the subframe loose and ounce he got everything tight it was a little better. i do have the 96 240sx wheels on with low profile yoko's which increased my road noise but it does look great
