Changing struts - first time how?

I think I can figure it out between seeing one taken off once, and the haynes manual, but does anyone have any additional links/help for replacing the struts on a 91 GXE? Should just the spring compressors you "borrow" from autozone work fine?

Any help would really help

there's a writeup on 4dsc.com. It'll be your new best friend. IMHO, the gland nut on the rear struts is the biggest PITA you'll encounter. I used a huge pipe wrench and a gigantic bench vice to get mine off. Other than that it was pretty straight-forward. Read the writeup multiple times and cross-reference it with the Haynes so you are familiar with what everything is. Good luck.

get yourself a oxygen/acetylene torch or at least a propane torch to heat up the gland nut on the rears. because like mizeree said, the rears will be the biggest PITA..
and be careful not to drop your rear strut assembly at all because you will blow an abs sensor if you drop it....i know from experience...

I just duct taped my ABS sensor to one of my parallel links. It didn't come off the car with the strut assembly.

when did my struts i couldn't be bothered to remove the abs sensors. but i learned that it's worth doing after having to replace both rear sensors.
