uh... you might wanna do some research before you do this one, dude! First off, you're REALLY gonna tick off Jeff (cuz he takes these particular questions VERY seriously). Second, you're setting yourself up for the "homeboy smackdown".

The "Reader's Digest" answer to your question would be a resounding NO. Now, if you wanna know the 'why', that's where the research comes in handy.

(oh, and as a side-note - if you've already ordered your stuff from Japan, you might wanna see about getting that order cancelled or risk being . I'm sure - even if you had to get a VQ-type engine, you could get one with virtually NO miles on it locally.... and probably a heckuva lot cheaper, too)

Food for thought - do the dishes, bro!

My dad wants to put my motor in his 2000 se 5spd. I'm dead serious. His had a hesitation at 3300 and 3600rpm then I replaced the stock platinums (they were in for about 15k too long) with BKR5E-11's, hesitation went away for the most part. Now its back again, he says it pings like crazy and feels like there is no power above 3000rpm at times.

Why the hell did you order a front clip from Japan? Also why did you order a front clip to do this swap if you have to ask how to do it, and if its possible?

I've looked under the hood of a few 5th gen's in my day and if it is possible for the engine to fit in there, the connections and piping just seem to be located a little different. If you do go ahead a try this swap do yourself a favor and get a 255hp motor, I think they are called 5.5 gens

umm, you need to know that if you have to ask any question, then you shouldn't be attempting this swap.

It is basically a complete fabrication of engine mounts, putting in a new engine, tranny, axles and probably everything in between out of a totally different car. You would also have to replace all of the wiring and put in the wiring harness and ECU from the VQ.

Just swapping in the same engine is a ton of work (right Jeff hehehe). Putting in a different engine that wasn't designed to go there is like something out of the show "Monster Garage" or "Chop, Cut, Rebuild," not something you can do in a week in your garage.

not only do you need the engine wiring harness but to make the whole swap easier you would need just about ever wire out of the front of the car and even some going to the back. if you don't have all that the ecu will not turn on connected to the engine itself.

you also have guages and fuel pump and a million other things that needs to be swapped over. its not impossible but it will take a while to do. you are basically doing the same thing as i am with my Z.
