Door Lock Timer

I finally got the door lock timer out of the car... are all the solder joints cold solder? Or are there specific sections i should solder? Is there a FAQ that i can't find? Anyone know? Thanks!

the PCB is pretty small, it would only take a few minutes to do the entire board

bu generally, it's around the relay near the bottom of the board

I need to fix mine up since it's been messing up the past month, but that link is really a time saver. If it isn't already up in the FAQ, it should be.

remove door lock timer (grey box to the right of the steering column after removing lower dash)
take circuit board out
resolder
put back in

contact Matt93se if you can't solder it yourself

might as well resolder everything, but generally it's the relay joints that go bad
look at each joint with a magnifying glass for cracks in teh solder joints

should only take you 10 minutes or so to redo the whole board so why not

Ok...i'm not at car knowledgeable as everyone else on this thread. So could explain how one goes about resoldering? Taking out the circuit board sounds easy enough. But now i need a solder iron to fix this thing......WOW----WAY OVER MY ABILITIES....lol

Any links on how to solder or resolder?

Thanks

Door Lock Timer step-by-step removal/repair

I forgot who sent me this, but somebody should post it in the FAQs. I ended up resoldering all the solder points (might as well since you went through the trouble of removing the PCB) It works like a charm!!!

that link is very nice, but it's also posted a couple posts earlier in this thread

bigkgs - if you've never soldered, you may not want to start by messing around with this. You can burn up lots of different components or the circuit board itself if you're not careful. I'd recommend contacting Matt93se, you can send him the board and he'll take care of it for a small fee.
