Looking at a 1991 Maxima

I am looking at a 1991 Maxima with auto, air, 3.0L V6 and was wondering if it's a good buy, car as 200,000km and they're asking $1,200. Is it reliable, i've heard alot of transmission problems with those years, if it was well maintained and get a fluid flush when i buy the car, might escape tranny problems. I really want something relaible because my Eagle Premier is too unreliable and too many km's. Would appreciate your suggestions and comments on this model year car. I need a reliable car because i'm still a student and just have a little side job and all my paychecks are going in my Eagle and tired of it

Thanks
Ian

unfortunately,
the 89-91 automatic transmissions were rather weak.
the engine should never fail you. check for rust under the rear seats, behind the trunk liner, fuel filler and under/around the rear wheelwells. if everything checks out you've got yourself a car that should last at least another 150,000km.
i'd suggest you check the engine compression as well.

If it drives well there's nothing to argue about for $1200.

just remeber the parts on your eagle are probably cheaper than the Maxima's parts.
